INJURY PREVENTION

Sports and Fitness is a way of life. But all sports have a risk of injury, whether it is something as easy as Cycling or a sport as complex as Football. Injuries can be prevented if the sport is taught and learnt in the right manner. By knowing a child’s physical potential during their elementary years, parents can appropriately support and assist in developing their athletic build and talent.
Since kids are at risk of repetitive injury and physical overuse, managing your child’s exercise load is particularly important. If a player is not taught in the correct manner, he/she could suffer from serious Musculoskeletal injuries without them being at fault.
At USM, a system is put in place to prevent children from getting injured. This is done with the help of a specific protocol which includes a warm up followed by activation exercises which is followed by the actual workout and finally the cool down session.
Warm up exercises help reduce muscle soreness and lessen the risk of injury. Activation exercises are done to stimulate and fire up your muscles to make you ready for your actual training session. Once you have finished training comes the cool down session. A cool down is an exercise performed to gradually stabilize your muscles into a resting phase. It is a signal for your body that the intense activity has come to an end and now it can relax.
Activation exercises, warming up and cool down sessions are introduced as they are crucial while avoiding injuries.
Muscle Imbalance, alignment and postural issues as well as improper biomechanics are all the reasons leading to an injury for a young athlete. Alignment issues in a child’s body can lead to serious biomechanical pain. If not detected and treated at an early stage, something which feels like growing pain can in reality be a lot worse.
We have a multidisciplinary team comprising of extremely qualified strength & conditioning coaches, football coaches, nutritionists, analysts and physiotherapists, who minutely monitor each and every aspect of a child’s fitness in the sports arena and ensure the child remains injury free.
